This architectural method was probably borrowed by Soviet Armenian architects from international modernist vocabulary. It had purely decorative, aesthetic application and was frequently applied to windows that acted as an accent of the façade. Facets were applied to either sides of window, on one side or on the bottom part. Deep facets of bigger angle that cut through the whole thickness of the wall were used in medieval churches. Still, the modernist counterpart had a solely decorative purpose.
